The plants are with middle height, well branched and leafy, with wax coating. The middle height is 61 cm /47-74 cm/ and the height of formation of the first pod is average 35,1 cm /31-47,4 cm/ /table 2/. The lodging is to a low extent and they are suitable for mechanized harvesting.
The leaves are mid-large, compound, paripinnate, green-colored. The stipules are well-developed, mid-large, embracing the stem and the leaf stalk.

During the phase of filling the grain, the pods are green-colored, and during the phase of ripening – straw-yellow. The form in the end is rounded. 14 slightly cracking pods are formed in a plant.
The seeds are large with spherical form. The coating of seeds is light cream-yellow colored, and the cotyledons are yellow. The number of seeds in a plant is average 40,2 pcs. The mass of 1000 seeds is 283,9 g /217-311 g/. The crude protein content in the grain is 23,15 %.
Resistance to stress. Ruse 1 variety is with a very good draught resistance. It has middle resistance to powdery mildew (Erysiphe pisi) and is resistant to ascochita (Ascochita pisi), bacterioza (Pseudomonas pisi) and fusarium (Fusarium culmorum, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum).
Productivity. Ruse 1 variety has very good productive abilities and stable yield. Average for the period 2004 – 2006 under conditions of IASS “Obraztsov chiflik” – Rousse, 342 kg/da were obtained, which is 30% higher than the yield of the standard Pleven 4.
